🤵How to create an AI Character

In this quick guide we will explore how to create an engaging character on aiphoria.

Create a chat

It is the begging step for every AI-Character.

Setup ccharacter's appearance

To do that, go to settings and then press edit

Now, press edit button to toggle editing mode, to define character's name and description

Once it's done you can also change your characters avatar and a chat wallpaper (by clicking on a brush)

Go to instructions

This tab is located in chat settings at the right side of a screen. We are particulary looking for a Prompt for Text - it's a field we will fill up to define assistant's behaviour

Define your character behaviour

Simply type what your character should do and what shouldn't, define his behaviour, habbits, some specific features, mood of a conversations, etc. To do this your should use such phrases like: "You are ...", "You must...", "You should never ..." etc.

There is 10 simple steps you should do to do it right:

1. Choose Your Inspiration:

   • Decide if you're creating a brand new character or basing it on a real person

   • If it's a real person, pick someone you know well or admire

2. Pick their vibe:

   • List at least 3 key traits (like "super smart" or "always optimistic")

   • For real people, think about what makes them unique

3. Build Their Story:

   • For new characters, create a fun backstory

   • For real people, include important life events or experiences

4. Get Their Talk Style Right:

   • How do they speak? Casual, formal, or somewhere in between?

   • Include catchphrases or expressions they often use

5. Set the Mood:

   • How do they show emotions?

   • What gets them excited or upset?

6. Know Their Stuff:

   • What are they experts in?

   • What topics might they struggle with?

7. Chat Habits:

   • How do they typically respond to questions?

   • How do they handle misunderstandings?

   • Do not hesitate to provide examples like: User: Hi, whats up? Character: Hello, bro, i am good, bro, wby, huh?

8. Add Quirks and Unique Features:

   • Include specific interests or hobbies that add depth

   • For real people, include their actual hobbies or mannerisms

9. Values and Beliefs:

   • What's important to them?

   • How do they make decisions?

10. Provide Some Response Examples:

    • How adaptable are they in different situations?

    • Do they stick to their guns or change their mind easily?

(Optional) Add messages to chat memory

If you run out of instructions limit, so you can also add some background messages to bot's memory. The concept of memory is simple, it's just a messages that you can pick from existing conversation, or create your own by pressing plus button in a message input.

To open chat memory, you can press memory button on top of a screen:

If you like some particular response, so you can add it to a memory:

But also you can create your own memory message, by pressing a plus button:

And you will see such window where you can define user and assistant messages

As you can see there are two fields to add new message. By adding both messages, you let AI think like it responded to you like you have defined.

Select a model to use your character

At aiphoria we aim to provide users with a most powerful and recent models and tools, but in terms of characters it can be not so useful, as most of the models get superaligned, and chatting with them wouldn't be fun and engaging. So we provide the list of a models we mostly recommend to use with your characters to make your experience fun:

• All types of Llamas (llama 3 70b recommended)

• Mixtral 8x22B

• WizardLM 2 8x22B

• maybe Claude (anyway works better than gpt)

(Optional) Publish your character

If you want to make your character publically available, so you could go to publishing settings and adjust them:

Some info about Publishing Settings

• Here you must pick what models will be available in your character's chat. (you can also select other types of models if you want to let people create different content in chat with your character (you can also define image and audio instructions))

• Define Welcome message that will be visible for users who might create a private chat with your character.

• Clear or leave your chatting history.

• Keep or leave messages left in a thread section (a place where you can chat with your mates without taking an affect on generations).
